Birthday Banner!! - Jesse Eisenberg

Would like to say a happy birthday to Jesse Eisenberg! You  may all know him as Colombus from Zombieland or as Mark Zuckerberg, the guy behind The Social Network but I, for one, am looking forward to his portrayal of Lex Luthor in 2016's Superman sequel: Batman (Ben Affleck - boo) vs Superman (Henry Cavill - yum)!

Also would like to say happy birthday to Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce! Hope you 3 have an awesome birthday! :D

TAK3N - The New Sequel

A personal fan of Liam Neeson, I was excited to hear that the IMDB profile for Tak3n has launched, confirming a sequel for the action franchise. Not only that, the first official trailer has been released and, boy, does it look good!

I don't want to give away a lot of spoilers to you if you haven't seen it already but if you thought preventing a kidnap was exciting enough, try adding an unexpected murder into the mix! Neeson reprises his iconic role as former detective and bad-ass Brian Mills once again for the personal delight of action fans, fathers and sons, Neeson admirers and Taken fans galore!

Here is a Youtube link for the trailer if you have not already find out what you can expect from the next Taken which is hitting the big screens next year!

The tag-line suggests a conclusion to the franchise... Why miss out on this finale?!

The best way to define representation!

Representation is one of the key concepts that will pop up in MS1 as well as MS3 and MS4 in Media Studies. It is something that affects our daily lives thanks to the mass consumption of media whether it is through TV, the internet, Facebook or Twitter, newspapers and even XBOX or PLAYSTATION games! With this clearly being an important area that may appear in a question, here is the easiest way to remember this:

The word 'presentation' is a view of or a perspective on a person, subject or issue. A 're-presentation' is a constructed view of that person, subject or issue. It has been constructed by the producer or editor to convey a particular message to the consumer (us). A 'representation' does not 100% present the person, subject or issue correctly: several events or characteristics may have been exaggerated or dramatized in order to create a particular reading. According to Stuart Hall's theory of Preferred Reading, a representation can create one or more of the following;

  • A PREFERRED READING (where the majority of the representation's audience agrees with the message)

  • AN OPPOSITIONAL READING (where the majority of the representation's audience disagrees with the message)

  • A MIXED READING (where the audience's perception is balanced)

Representation in the media targets:

  • Gender
  • Age
  • Ethnicity
  • National/Regional Identity
  • Political Events
  • Issues (e.g.; disabilities, homosexuality and the LGBT community, eating disorders, etc.)

There are many theories, which have been released, that give a more in depth insight into how the media represents these factors. You will tend to find more theories based on gender and age rather than issues because these factors are more approachable in mainstream media and the messages behind these representations can be understood by a larger population of people.

What can you expect?

Hey everyone! The past year, I had to blog my ongoing media coursework as part of my A Level and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole vibe of sharing my views on subjects to the world and what-not so I thought to myself, "Why not start a blog about this?" And here it is! Welcome to the Film Façade!

I am passionate about films and have been enthusiastically involved in drama and performing arts for the majority of my life with an ambition to star in at least ONE FILM with the incredible Colin Firth (hopefully he'll read this post one day)! As time has progressed, reality has kicked in and plan B consists of seeking a full time job which, at some point in the foreseeable future, will have something to do with I.T. However, my love for the film industry and the bank of amazing actors that make up the A-Listers will never die!

This blog is dedicated to not only reviews of films that I am going to watch but will keep a regular update on the important news that has hit Hollywood as well as Pinewood. I strive to do at least one review a week as well as one update a week just to make it a regular occurrence and to keep you guys aware of my presence! Of course, I'll add extra posts if I feel they are appropriate ;)

I accept the fact that Media Studies is a fairly difficult qualification to do and is rather underrated in terms of the amount of work that you actually have to do. Therefore, I hope to provide support to any fellow media students as well as give advice to anyone who is looking to study media as an A-level or in GCSE.

Thank you for your time and I hope you continue to support my blog as it progresses through time! :D Me love ya long time!!! (Sooo totally referenced The 40 Year Old Virgin right there ;) )
